Celebrate Native American Heritage Month on November 9 at Legacy West with performances by the Ollin Tonalzin Aztec Dancers. Adorned in feathered headdresses and “chachayotl” seed leggings, the dancers perform to the rhythmic beat of the huehuetl drum. Conch shell trumpets and the burning of copal tree incense punctuates the dances which represent respect for the four elements of nature: earth, water, fire and wind. Experience the magic of this ancient culture from 1pm to 3pm in front of the Nike store on Windrose Avenue, and enjoy sips of tamarindo water, a tart and sweet agua fresca drink traditional in Mexico. This celebration is presented by the Plano International Festival which celebrates and showcases the rich tapestry of cultures in North Texas.
